Industrial Designer
We are expanding the design team in our Cary office and seeking an Industrial Designer. This role is strategic and tactical in a collaborative environment with designers, researchers and engineers.
Job Level Duties
Job duties include working closely with HumanCentric and client teams by:
- Fostering and maintaining client relationships while participating in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Providing expertise and support to development teams during creation of product concepts.
- Leveraging the knowledge of engineering principles and advanced manufacturing processes including raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques.
- Refining the design details in the manufacturing process, including reviews of tooled parts.
- Analyzing and problem solving with the ability to clearly communicate through verbal, written and visual approaches.
- Leading and participating in user research and requirements gathering.
- Demonstrating an understanding of product requirements and client and end-user's goals and objectives.
- Conceptualizing and creating design solutions with the goal that products must meet user, technical, and creative expectations.
Job Requirements
The candidate should have:
- A four year degree in Industrial Design (BS or equivalent) with a minimum two (+) years experience is required (entry level applicants will not be accepted).
- A portfolio of work showing diverse range of products and industries is essential. The work should demonstrate fundamental sketching, drawing, rendering and 3D drawing skills and the ability to quickly visualize ideas.
- Extensive experience with designing in 3-D CAD programs, preferably Alias, SolidWorks and/or One-CNC and extensive experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign).
- Self-motivated with a high level of responsibility and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently as well as with multi-disciplinary teams.
- English proficiency required; other languages a plus.
- Must be able to perform a variety of tasks, which often includes working on multiple projects simultaneously where a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- A willingness to embrace new technologies in an ever-changing technological environment.
- Willingness to work with teams often located in remote geographical locations and time zones.
