Bio

Marvin Smith is a Senior User Experience Specialist at HumanCentric and has been a part of the company for over seven years. He manages human factors research and interaction design teams and is also serving as Regional Director for HumanCentric’s new Chicago office.

Smith has extensive applied experience in usability and user experience design techniques and has traveled worldwide conducting client usability and design programs. He has been involved in a wide-array of project types including, but not limited to: design and evaluation of both stationary and mobile computers; design and evaluation of mobile communication devices (across all device and application types and carriers); contextual analysis of systems; Web interface design; Heuristic evaluation, redesign, and development of style guides for Web Interfaces.

Smith received his Master of Arts in Professional Communication from Clemson University, focusing on the usability and audience of communication in all its forms, working closely with Dr. Tharon Howard.

Smith is an active member in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (SIGCHI), Usability Professionals Association (UPA), the Industrial Designer’s Society of America (IDSA), The Professional Association for Design (AIGA), and the Economic Development Council of Chicago (EDC).
