Bio

As a Senior Human Factors Specialist for HumanCentric, Merrick brings over 15 years of experience in the field of human factors to his projects. Since receiving degrees from the University of Illinois and the Georgia Institute of Technology, Merrick has served as an individual contributor as well as manager and leader in a variety of settings.

Merrick has extensive experience working in the healthcare and medical device industry. His projects have included new product developments as well as sustaining efforts. He has served as a member of many different cross-functional teams working closely with representatives from Engineering, Marketing, Clinical Affairs, and Regulatory in order to develop products that are safe and efficient to use. Merrick has also worked closely with teams in Japan and other countries developing products for their varying markets. Merrick's contributions include user analysis, requirements generation, interface and device design, error analysis, and usability testing. Merrick has also performed similar activities in the software, aviation, and manufacturing industries.

Merrick is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES), the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM SIGCHI), and the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).
